Ich fände es gut wenn die 1.2.3 zumindest solange mit bugfixes versorgt wird bis es wirklich eine stabile 1.3.0 gibt.
Ich als "Nur" Nutzer von Zikula komme bei diesem Entwicklungstempo nicht mehr mit bzw. habe auch nicht die Zeit andauernd meine Seiten zu aktualisieren um dann feststellen zu müssen das es noch Bugs gibt.
Ich denke damit bringt man wieder Ruhe in die ganze Situation.

Maybe it would be helpful if I provided some links. Overall, the German community seems to remain too insular and not keep up with the communications of the Zikula project. The German community is a satellite of the Zikula project so the most fresh and up to date information should be sought from the main project instead of endless uninformed speculation. It would make you all feel way more secure ;)

This shows clearly that not only is there a maintenance release, but there are important bug and security fixes. I think there is too much talk of 'lack of maintenance' when without looking at the lack of tickets for 1.2.x. It's true that some tickets are refused for 1.2.x but that is because this is a maintenance branch not a feature fix branch. We have allowed some minor API additions only because they were so minor and there was a contributor patch.
The next milestone is set to coincide with the next Zikula 1.3.0 release.
While the Zikula project supports the international community websites, please understand, it's YOUR responsibility to maintain up to date information: only to provide it on our communication channels: zikula.org websites, mailing list, and on Google Wave (search exactly what is in the quotation "with:public Zikula"). If you care about development, then you should subscribe to the Cozi timeline for the core project and watch the milestones.

Wenn man bedenkt, das die deutsche Community mal der Nukleus für die Entwicklung von PostNuke und auch Zikula war, ist es traurig zu sehen, wie sich das geändert hat. Aber nichts ist halt so beständig wie der Wandel.

during my last 1.2.x changeover I have particularly noticed:
- The rss-problem (with directory based urls 3buchstaben be interpreted as a language)
- Performance (apparently much worse compared to 1.1.x)

The RSS issue is fixed for 1.2.4 (actually it's to do with misinterpreting the language code).
Something wrong there with performance - actually, without exception, everyone raves that 1.2.x is much much much faster - this is the first time I head of this. I suspect maybe an Upgrade of a module or block is responsible.

It is a feature request - it's the way it was written. Maybe you don't wish to respect the QA processes but a bug means a bug - and in a minor release version is not the place for features, especially ones that could have severe performance implications if you have a lot of installed languages. You will notice the ticket was moved to 'pending assignment' and discussion required. The correct place to argue your case is on the ticket. This is a big problem I see here - everyone is so uptight and really unwilling to actually participate.

Multilinguale Probleme sind unseren amerikanischen Freunden vielleicht auch manchmal nicht so einsehbar, da die meisten wohl unilingual sind. Also ist es eher die Aufgabe von uns Europäern, daran zu arbeiten ...
I agree with you, but maybe it's also acceptable to just use the flags block. You don't *have to* use a text based drop down. What I mean is that, for the purposes of Zikula 1.2.x, using the flags option should at least be acceptable until a decision is made about how to, whether to, and where to make a dropdown selector box in full multi-language.

du vergisst noch diversen webseiten die es auch noch gilt, im auge zu halten. so sehr wie ich die geschwindigkeit der entwicklung schätze und so begeistert wie ich von der richtung der entwicklung bin - ich für meinen teil schaffe es bedauerlicherweise nicht mehr (zugegebenermassen - auch - aufgrund privater und beruflicher dinge) schritt zu halten. wenn ich mich irgendwann irgendwo in bhutan zur ruhe setze mag das anders sein, aktuell macht mir der information overkill aber sorge. anyway: it's time for the next generation

there was a quite similar problem here at zikula.de - we had to deactivate the multihook to reduce the generation times (for roundabout 3sec/page!). guess some problems only occur when using really large installations...

Ich denke, der Überblick fällt auch deswegen schwerer als früher, weil inzwischen mehr Leute mehr Themen besprechen. Ne Zeit lang bestand die Community ja tatsächlich nur aus der deutschen Community. Und die bestand aus einem harten Kern von 5-6 Leuten. Es gab aber auch damals schon Leute, die eigene Communities mit eigenen Foren betrieben und wir haben uns immer dafür eingesetzt, zumindest die deutschsprachige Kommunikation auf unser Forum zu konzentrieren. Das hatte zwar den Vorteil der Übersichtlichkeit, hat aber - das muss ich gestehen - auch Initiativen abgewürgt. Inzwischen bin ich der Meinung, dass es reicht, wenn Kommunikation "gut genug" funktioniert. Und das Bessere ist der Feind des Guten.
Ich schau hier, gelegentlich rein, ich bin aber nicht mehr auf der Mailing Liste und aus vielen Waves bin ich auch ausgestiegen. Ich such mir jetzt gezielter die Informationen, die ich benötige - um alles mitzubekommen, haben ich inzwischen zu wenig Zeit und es gibt auch zu viel.

Hat sich der Thread für mich doch schon gelohnt.
Wer auch den Backport für rss braucht findet den hier. Hat geklappt. Dank an Drak dafür.
Und Dank an Larsneo für den Hinweis mit der Deaktivierung Multihook. Hat mir sehr geholfen.
Zikula, die Lösung ?
damit Webmaster die Füße hochlegen und Redakteure Ihren Job machen.
